About ESTEE LAUDER Fragrances
Estee Lauder was born
Josephine Esther Mentzer in
Corona, Queens, New York. She
married Joseph Lauter in 1930
and had two sons. The two
changed their name to Lauder
and launched Estee Lauder in
1946. They began producing
cosmetics, hair products and
skin cleansers. In 1953, Estee
Lauder launched their first
fragrance, Youth Dew. This
perfume bridged the gap
between bath oil and
fragrance. Following the
launch of Youth Dew, Estee
Lauder introduced several
other fragrances including
Estee, Beautiful and Spellbound.
In 1964, Estee Lauder started
Aramis Inc. This company
focused primarily on producing
fragrances and grooming
products for men. In 1968,
Estee expanded again and
opened Clinique Laboratories.
Clinique was the first
dermatologist guided, allergy
tested, fragrance free
cosmetic brand.
Estee Lauder has grown to
become a major distributor of
perfumes, skin care and
grooming products. Since its
launch in 1946, Estee Lauder
now has ties to brands such as
Aveda, Bobbi Brown, Kate
Spade, MAC and Prescriptives.
