About Designer fragrances by TERRY MUGLER Fragrances
Thierry Mugler was born in 1948 in
Strasbourg, France. At the age of 14, he
joined the corps de ballet of the Opera of
the Rhine and started designing, making
and wearing clothes of his own. In 1970,
Thierry moved to Paris and worked as a
window-dresser. During his free time, he
continued to design clothes and in 1974
launched his own label. Thierry's line of
clothing was seen as avant-garde and the
use of angels became a recurring theme.
Following the launch of his clothing line
Thierry Mugler introduced Angel perfume
for women. Angel was designed to be soft
yet strong, last a long time and withstand
the changes of fashion. The perfume
contains notes of patchouli and vanilla
which reminded Mugler of his childhood
experiences at the fairground and the
smell of cotton candy. Angel for men was
launched soon after and contains similar
notes as the Angel for women. The strong
scent of vanilla and chocolate can be
noted in both the men and women's
Angel. In 1997, Thierry Mugler's line of
perfume was bought by Clarins and
several new perfumes have been
introduced. Innocent perfume was
launched in 1998 and is also known as
Angel Innocent. This perfume is classified
as a refreshing, flowery fragrance. Alien
perfume was launched in 2005 and was
the first cologne to not be based on the
Angel concept. Thierry Mugler quickly
became known more for his line of
perfumes then his line of fashion.
Unfortunately, Thierry Mugler's line of
fashion didn't survive the 1990's. Thierry
Mugler has since gone on to pursue other
artistic interests. He has published two
books featuring his fashion designs and
photography.
