About VERSACE Fragrances
Versace was founded in 1978 by
the late Gianni Versace. The
Design House of Versace
manufactures and distributes
fashion and lifestyle products
such as jewelry, accessories,
fragrances, cosmetics and
furniture. The Gianni Versace
Couture is responsible for the
design and manufacturing of
their fine fragrances The
history of perfumes by Versace
dates back to Gianni, a
self-titled fragrance,
launched in 1982. Since its
launch, Versace has introduced
such fragrances as Baby Blue
Jeans, Blonde and Heaven
Scent. The perfume Baby Blue
Jeans was created by Donatella
Versace to remind her of how
her children smelt when they
were small. She recalls the
smells of baby powder and
sweetness which is a key note
of this fragrance. The perfume
Blonde was invented by Richard
Avedon, a famous photographer,
after launching an ad campaign
for Donatella. Donatella says,
?He said, if it's called
?Blonde', it had to be me in
the ads. The fragrance was
tuberose, but very, very
strong which I don't think the
market was ready for at the
time. I still wear it sometimes.?
Heaven Scent is a true floral
fragrance. It contains notes
of jasmine, which Donatella
uses as an essential oil
herself. ?It takes me back to
the south of Italy, where
there is a lot of wild jasmine
growing, close to the beach.
It's fantastic.?
The Design House of Versace
continues to create and
manufacture new lines of
perfumes. Gianni Versace would
be proud of his design house
which has been famously
successful at selling products
with a hint of sexual appeal.
When asked if fragrances are
about sex, Donatalla was quick
to respond, ?It is absolutely.?
